How much you've grown. I sound like the Franklin theme song...but you can count to 12...and at least 29 if it weren't for your triscadecaphobia. You can ride your bike around the block so much faster than Mom can push Henry. You can write your name. You can sing so many songs. You went to camp this summer and didn't even miss me. wow. 4 years feels so long for a Bush term...and unblievable that you have only been with us for four years.

Happy Birthday 4 year old, with all attendant rights and privileges.

love!!!

big boy

I should have taken a picture today...oh well. Henry slept in a big boy bed all night last night. He is sleeping in the double bed and we brought back Miranda's twin bed for her. She can sleep in one direction in the bed and doesn't turn so much. Henry can now turn 360 and not bump into anything or anyone.

And Henry wore big boy underwear over his diaper. And sometimes without a diaper. He seems to be more interested in the potty than talking. C'est la vie.

Miranda's first sore throat?

Miranda has a sore throat, we think. Or else, she is going to have nightmares forever. As she tells the story, she is in the little foyer between the front door and the entry door (this is about a 4x4 space). Our mail slot is in the large, heavy wooden door in front. She looks out the mailslot and a bunch of bees swarm in. The bees then go into her throat. She runs out of the foyer, past the second door and shuts it. When she peeks back into the foyer, the bees are gone. Because they are in her throat.

As far as we know, this is not true. She does seem to have a sore throat. But she is remarkably consistent in telling the tale.

news as news

I will admit it. I'm a web fanatic. A news junkie. A reading addict. So much, that when I read a request in the print version of the Journal-Sentinel for reader feedback on online news, I emailed.

And now I'm in the newspaper.

Were we ever that young? Yes, I guess we were.
Happy Anniversary, Rob. I love you.

I hope this doesn't bump the Bay Beach recap. If so, look for it.

rocking on

Last Thursday was so tiring. But also really fun.

We drove to Bay Beach in Green Bay. This is about a two hour drive. My cousin, RJ, wonderfully agreed to help me out chasing the kids from ride to cotton candy. It opens at 10. We got there at 10. I think we went on on every age appropraite ride. But that is OK, because every ticket is 25 cents. And almost all the kid rides only cost 1 ticket.

There is also a boat, but the picture was lame. And a caterpillar and a bumblebee. One thing you quickly realize is that every ride just goes in circle. I understand the space constraints, but it makes me dizzy just to watch.

We went with Miranda's two best chums. Pretty soon they'll all be back in school.

The helicopter may be the coolest kid ride. One, adults can go too. (but not alone--too weird.) And two, you can actually control the up and down motion of the plane, as it travels in a circle.

This is Henry and Sarah on the carousel.

After Bay Beach, we dropped off a tree at Grandma and Grandpa's and took RJ home. Then I made a wrong turn. Then dinner. Miranda had to use the potty twice, necessitating two stops. We were home by 9. And Henry wasn't asleep.

Friday we rested. I was so tired. On Saturday we saw Ross and Becky and Hannah in Madison. Way fun!! And Sunday we rested. Today Miranda went to Gesher Camp (6 hours long!) and swimming lessons. She had a blast. Tomorrow, we rest.
